Boston Rescue Mission 2013 Day of Thanks

We had the wonderful privilege of singing at the Boston Rescue Mission's Day of Thanks earlier this afternoon. The Day of Thanks is a special annual event held at the Boston Rescue Mission where volunteers serve a hot turkey dinner as well as give out Thanksgiving baskets filled with turkey and all the fixings to enable these folks to cook a proper American Thanksgiving meal at home next week.

Earlier Mayor Menino and his wife were actually there, though they had left by the time we arrived.

It was crazy cold out today and there was definitely a HUGE crowd of hungry people who showed up. Because it was so cold outside, the organizers allowed everyone to come inside while waiting to receive their food and baskets. It was a huge blessing for us to have the opportunity to serve them with our music. We loved their energy and kind words to us.

We sang three songs: Change in My Life, God Will Make a Way, and Thank You.

I believe there are videos and other photos out there, so this post may be updated soon with some more content!

The 2012 ArtSpeak theme was Vices and Virtues, which paralleled Highrock’s study of the Seven Deadly Sins during the season of Lent.

We sang "Change in My Life" and"I Live for You".

Christian a Cappella Leadership Summit

Boston Found hosted the first ever Christian a Capella Leadership Summit at MIT in October of 2012. We had student leaders from area schools come together to discuss and share ideas, struggles, and vision.
Some examples of things we talked about:

Why was your group founded? Has the purpose changed? If so, why?

What was your group doing on campus 4 years ago? What is the group doing now?

What does your group value?

How do you live out these values?

What does "success" mean to your group? How do you measure success?
One of our members, Tamiko, made huge efforts to provide awesome snacks for the day.

We had representation from Tufts, BU, BC, Wellesley, and MIT.

All in all, it was a great way to get to know some of the student leaders, to share, learn from each other, and also pray together.
